Chinatown Lion Dance Festival schedule -9/22/24

Established in 1971 by the Leung Brothers.  Leung's White Crane has been crowned the Western Lion @ the Genting World Championship 5 times.  In 2022 & 2023 White Crane also won the USA Dragon and Lion Dance Sports Association Championship.  White Crane is based in San Francisco, CA.  White Crane often performs for special events such as weddings and business openings.

Brothers Aaron, Tony, and Daryrl Wong began learning Kung Fu from their Grandfather in 1969 to Grandmaster YC Wong.  The school was established in 2003 with their mission to carry forth the tradition, propagate their Sifu's legacy, and to share the rich Chinese Martial arts history and finally preserve the styles taught to them.   They also provide lion dance services for special occasions such as weddings.

The Jing Mo Athletic Association was first brought to San Francisco in the early 1960's by Grandmaster Wong Jack Man (photo shown on the left). Grandmaster Wong Jack Man is famous for being the man who fought Bruce Lee in a match in Oakland in 1964 which has since gained mythic proportion in martial arts history.  Today, SF Jing Mo is a non-profit organization led by Sifu Rick L "Bucky" Wing, an acknowledged disciple of Grandmaster Wong Jack Man.

 Established in 2021 by Tony Mai and Peter Chu, Golden Turtle Lion Dance Association is dedicated to being the iconic team that brings lion dance in its purest form. We provide our best performances as a result of great teamwork, determination, and creativity.

 Est. 2022The SJSU VSA Lion Dance Team hopes to provide a space for students to learn about the art of lion dancing and the culture that surrounds it. The lion dance team is
a subset of the Vietnamese Student Association, however, not all students are members of the VSA.  Consisting of young adults, they provide performances in San Jose and the South Bay.

 Founded in 2008 in Oakland, CA, Teng Fei Lion Dance Team was created by a group of friends sharing their love for lion dance.  Teng Fei quickly became well known in the Lion Dance community after numerous performances for local events. In 2012, the team relocated to Sacramento, CA and had over 100+ members. Teng Fei has actively performed for hundreds of events in the Sacramento area.  

 Fei Tian Dancers is the one & only Chinese dance team at UC Berkeley. Established in 2003 as a Registered Student Organization, FTD supports dancers of all backgrounds in developing their Chinese dance skill & technique, enhancing their comprehension of traditional Chinese culture, & in spreading greater awareness of Chinese classical & ethnic cultures to the bigger community. FTD incorporates classical, ethnic, & modern Chinese dances into its repertoire through creating original choreography & learning traditional works, performing on campus & throughout the Bay Area. 

Ashlyn Tsui had her dream come true as Miss Chinatown USA in 2023.  We are fortunate to have her sing the National Anthem to kick off the 3rd Annual Chinatown Lion Dance Festival!
